Lounston is a small hamlet set in rolling countryside between Ilsington and Bickington on the south east corner of Dartmoor National Park. The immediate surrounding area abounds in many lovely walks and rides, with the open Moor at Pinchaford Bowl and Haytor Down less than two miles distant. There is a Nature Reserve managed by the Devon Wildlife Trust within walking distance, as is the charming village of Ilsington with its clusters of thatched cottages, parish church, community shop and traditional Devon Inn, "The Carpenters Arms", and village primary school.

Although occupying a rural location, the area is easily accessible to the A38 Devon Expressway, which is just a few minutes’ drive away and which connects the city of Plymouth with Exeter and the M5 motorway link. The market town of Newton Abbot, about 7 miles away, has a modern pedestrian shopping centre with many high street stores, a main line railway station, and there is a wide choice of independent and state schools in the vicinity. The nearby towns of Bovey Tracey (4 miles) and Ashburton (5 miles) each have a good range of everyday amenities and a variety of interesting shops.

Owlscombe is a stunning home created by the conversion of a traditional farm building. Grade II listed, the barn dates back in parts to more than five hundred years.

It is substantially built of stone walls beneath a grey slate roof and the interior retains some impressive roof timbers which feature in the first floor living room and the study /fifth bedroom.

A large open-plan kitchen and dining room is at the heart of the accommodation and has access to a large outdoor sun deck overlooking the garden. The gardens face south and include lawns, shrubs, feature fish pond and various seating areas. In addition to the main garden there is an allotment-style plot on the opposite side of the lane.

The barn is attached, only for a small part, at the far end of the building where there is a small stone outbuilding which belongs to a neighbouring property.
